Apple’s Beats by Dre has launched its Beats Studio Buds wireless earphones. The new buds offer active noise cancellation in a compact package and are now available for pre-order in red, white, and black ahead of a June 24 ship date, and they’re priced at $149.99.
The new earbuds offer features that bring them into line with Apple’s AirPods Pro earbuds. Features include:
Beats Studio Buds are small, fitting into the ear canal with only the buds’ small casings being visible by other people. The buds are held in place in the ear by the friction of the silicone ear tip against the ear canal to stay lodged in the ear.
Similar to the AirPods Pro, the Studio Buds also offer Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency, borrowing the technology from the AirPods Pro to allow users to hear environmental sounds.
However, Studio Buds do not use Apple’s H1 or W1 chips. Instead, it uses its own chip to provide its features. While this means there’s no automatic switching between Apple devices for pairing like with the AirPods Pro, it does offer one-touch pairing with both Apple and Android devices.
The Beats Studio Buds use a USB-C charging case, and also offer support for Find My to locate lost earbuds, by revealing their last known location or by playing a sound to help in their recovery.
