Twitter announced today that it is now rolling out the new “Tip Jar” feature to some users. The new option will allow creators on Twitter to easily receive money from their followers.

Once a user enables the feature in their profile, other Twitter users can send an amount of money as a tip via the new feature. Users will see a new “Tip Jar” button when visiting a Twitter user’s page that has access to the new feature.
Tip Jar has the ability to be integrated with various payment services, including Bandcamp, Patreon, PayPal, Venmo, and Cash App. Something that might be of interest to Epic Games and a few other developers: the money is sent directly to the user via one of these services without using the App Store’s usual in-app purchases system — which means that Apple is not getting its usual 30% cut of the action.
If you’d like to see if Tip Jar is enabled on your account, do the following:
- Open the Twitter app
- Go to your profile
- Tap the Edit Profile button.
- If you see Tip Jar in the options, tap on it.
- Log in to one of the payment services available.
