According to market data compiled by Counterpoint Research, Apple’s smallest iPhone, the iPhone 12 mini, did not make the top 5 best-selling smartphone list for January 2021.
The best the iPhone 12 mini could do was snag eighth place for the best-selling smartphone worldwide in the first month of the year. Meanwhile, the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 12 Pro, and last year’s iPhone 11 took spots one through four, respectively.
Apple’s 5.4-inch “mini” iPhone 12 has reportedly experienced disappointing sales, leading Apple to cut production due to “far lower” than expected demand. While the small handset includes the same features as its 6,10inch larger iPhone 12 sibling, such as the same chip, the same camera system, and overall look and feel. However, the iPhone 12 mini does sport a smaller battery and a much smaller display.
However, despite the iPhone 12 mini’s less-than-spectacular sales numbers, Apple is said to be planning to keep the “mini” form factor around for the 2021 iPhone 13 lineup.
