Ming-Chi Kuo: Apple to Bring ProMotion Display to ‘iPhone 13,’ Folding iPhone Coming in 2023

Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared what he says is Apple’s three-year iPhone plan. Kup says ProMotion displays and an improved camera will be features of the “iPhone 13,” a folding iPhone may debut in 2023, and the new iPhone SE won’t hit shelves until 2022.

Kuo’s predictions come in a specifications forecast shared by AppleInsider. Kuo offers details about Apple’s upcoming “iPhone 13,” the “iPhone 14,” a 5G iPhone SE, a folding iPhone, and even the “iPhone 15.”

iPhone 13

Kuo says there will be four iPhone 13 models, with the same screen sizes as the current iPhone 12. The new iPhones will boast a reduced notch, and use Qualcomm’s X60M 5G baseband chip.

The two “Pro” iPhone models will feature additional upgrades, such as an upgraded 6-piece ultra-wide camera with a wider f/1.8 aperture and autofocus.

The iPhone 13 display is expected to support 120Hz and LPTO for power efficiency.

The iPhones may also be slightly heavier, due to Apple potentially including a larger battery capacity.

Kuo also sees LiDAR being only available for Pro models for another year, although other reports have claimed LiDAR could be included in non-Pro iPhones.

iPhone 14

As for 2022’s “iPhone 14,” the main iPhone releases are expected to abandon the camera notch and “adopt the punch-hole display design.” Using the punch-hole concept across all models depends on production yield.

The handset’s front-facing camera system could also include autofocus for the first time.

5G iPhone SE

The third-generation iPhone SE will apparently resemble the existing 4.7-inch model, but with internal improvements, consisting mostly of 5G support and a processor update.

iPhone Fold

Kuo sees a foldable iPhone possibly hitting shelves as early as 2023. Kuo believes Apple will be able to fix production issues with the foldable technology in 2021, possibly launching a 7.5 to 8-inch foldable iPhone two years later.

iPhone 15

The flagship “iPhone 15” launch in 2023 may introduce an under-display fingerprint, a periscope telephoto camera, and a major design change to the display. The iPhone 15 could boast a “real full-screen design” that lacks any holes or notches.
