First-Gen iPad Prototype Boasts Portrait and Landscape 30-Pin Ports

Photos of an alleged first-generation iPad prototype show a device that boasts two 30-pin charging ports allowing charging in both positions.

Giulio Zompetti, who collects rare Apple devices, has tweeted images of what he says is a first-generation iPad test design. The model shows a dual charging system and matches a model that was auctioned on eBay in 2012.

The photographs show a model that appears to date from before the design was finalized, and they show a slightly bulbous back. However, the main feature is the presence of two docks, which Zompetti says allowed for concurrent charging.
