Apple is offering paid time off for its employees for vaccine appointments. The Cupertino firm is also offering paid sick leave for those that experience side effects, says a Bloomberg reports.
Apple doesn’t have its own supply of vaccines and is not directly providing the shots to its workers. Employees will be required to get their vaccinations through their state’s medical facilities.
Vaccines will help speed up the full re-opening of Apple’s campuses in California. Apple’s office facilities have largely been shut down, with most employees working from home. The Cupertino firm’s retail stores around the globe were also shuttered off and on during 2020.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a March interview that he “can’t wait” for employees to return to in-person work.
“Innovation isn’t always a planned activity. It’s bumping into each other over the course of the day and advancing an idea that you just had. And you really need to be together to do that.”
In California, where Apple’s main offices are located, everyone over the age of 16 will be eligible to get vaccinated beginning April 15.
