Apple on Thursday launched a new “Apple for Kids” portal to its support website, providing a one-stop hub for parents and guardians looking to get their kids set up on Apple devices, services and platforms, and to manage the devices’ usage.
The portal offers links that allow for managing a family group, resolving common issues such as a child’s forgotten passcode, or if an item or service is bought by mistake.
The portal can also walk parents through setting up an Apple device for use by a child, set up Family Sharing, setting up an Apple Watch for a family member that lacks an iPhone, and much more.
A bit down the page, Apple offers a link to explain how “Ask to Buy” works, and how to enable it. When enabled, “Ask to Buy” requires your kids to get permission from the family organizer before making a purchase.
Also available are links explaining how to locate missing Apple devices with “Find My,” and how to send Apple Cash to children for use with Apple Pay.
A final section on the page tells parents how to prevent their kids from making in-app purchases, how to set limits with Screen Time, and how to use parental controls on an offspring’s device.
