Apple on Tuesday officially launched Apple Pay in Mexico, offering users in that country the ability to quickly and securely pay using their iPhone, Apple Watch, and Mac with banks that support the payment system.
Apple’s website lists Citibanamex, Banorte, American Express, and MasterCard as financial services supporting Apple Pay in Mexico at launch.
The service had been expected to launch in 2020, as reports in March 2020 began appearing of users in Mexico seeing Apple Pay prompts in the Wallet app on their iPhone. However, Apple eventually updated its Apple Pay page on its Mexican site, saying the feature would not be available until 2021.
