Apple’s ninth-generation low-cost iPad the company is expected to reveal sometime in 2021 will feature a thinner, lighter design similar to the third-generation iPad, says a report by Mac Otakara.
The report, citing Chinese supply chain sources, says the display size will likely remain at 10.2 inches but will be “significantly thinner” at 6.3mm, which will be a significant slimming from the current iPad’s 7.5mm thickness. The new iPad is expected to also be lighter than the current model at 460 grams vs. 490 grams, respectively.
The report says the device will continue to feature a Touch ID Home button and Lightning port and is expected to have a full-lamination display, anti-reflective coating, P3 wide color support, and True Tone.
Mac Otakara also shared some details about Apple’s next-gen iPad Pro models, which will not boast a display or housing change but will feature “significantly improved” A-series chip performance.
