Apple CEO Tim Cook told Reuters that Apple now has an active installed base of 1.65 billion devices, up from 1.5 billion devices just one year ago.
Apple has also hit an iPhone milestone, reaching the incredible number of more than 1 billion active iPhones worldwide, up from 900 million in 2019.
Apple’s total active installed base includes iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Watch models in use around the world.
Today’s Apple earnings release saw Apple share record numbers thanks to strong iPhone, iPad, Mac, and services sales.
Apple also reached a new all-time quarterly revenue record for its Mac category, thanks to a 21% year-over-year growth in the category.
During the first fiscal quarter of 2021 (fourth calendar quarter of 2020), Apple’s Mac category brought in $8.7 billion, up from $7.2 billion in the year-ago quarter and up from the previous $7.4 billion quarterly record set in the first quarter of 2019. The growth was driven by the release of new M1 Macs, including the MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini.
