Apple CEO Tim Cook will make a “big announcement” Wednesday morning on CBS This Morning. The show teased the appearance today. In addition to the announcement, Cook also addressed last week’s events at the U.S. Capitol, saying “it’s key that people be held accountable for it.”

Cook said that he thinks it’s “key” for people to be held accountable for what happened last week:
“I think it’s key that people be held accountable for it. This is not something that should skate. This is something we’ve got to be very serious about, and understand, and then we need to move forward.”
After showing an excerpt from the interview, CBS’s Gayle King noted the interview hadn’t been set up to specifically discuss the controversy over the events at the Capitol and the subsequent removal of Parler from the App Store. She said the interview was previously scheduled as part of a “big announcement that they want to make tomorrow.”
We should say, he didn’t sit and say “You know, I want to sit and talk to CBS about this.” This was an interview that was scheduled because they have a big announcement that they want to announce tomorrow. It is not a new product, we should say, it’s not a new product. It’s something I think bigger and better than that. So we did an interview, and we did it at the Apple Store here, and he’s at his headquarters, and he agreed to answer other questions. But that wasn’t the purpose of the interview. What we’re going to tell you about tomorrow is very exciting.
