Back in May, Hulu began testing a new Watch party feature that allows up to eight viewers to watch shows and movies together through the Hulu website, while chatting with each other while viewing. While the feature had initially been limited to a select group of Hulu viewers, the streaming service today announced that Watch Party is now available to all on-demand Hulu subscribers.
Today, we’re officially launching Hulu Watch Party for Hulu and Hulu (No Ads) subscribers on Hulu.com. Viewers can now safely connect with their friends and family from the comfort of their homes to watch thousands of titles from Hulu’s on-demand streaming library. From the new Hulu Original film The Happiest Season to holiday episodes of beloved shows like The Golden Girls, This is Us, and Family Guy, Hulu is home for the holidays this season. Viewers can also tune into favorites like Pen15 and The Bachelorette, which have been popular titles for Watch Party during our testing period.
To create a Watch Party, do the following:
- Visit Hulu.com on a supported web browser (Chrome, Edge (on Windows only), Firefox, or Safari (Mac only)
- Find a title available with Watch Party — look for the Watch Party icon next to a video
- Select the Watch Party icon on the Details page
- Click Start the Party
- Select the chain icon to copy the link, then send it to other participants so they can join
To join a Watch Party, use the invitation link you received from the Hulu Watch Party host. Once everyone has joined, the host can start the show.
All participants must have a Hulu subscription, be logged in to Hulu, and be 18 years of age or older. All participants can not only chat in realtime through the chat function, they can also control their own playback of the content.
