Last week, MacTrast told you about an Apple internal memo that told Apple Authorized Service Providers about potential AppleCare-related changed to be made on Tuesday, December 8. Apple has issued memos like the one above ahead of several previous product announcements.
The memo shows Apple telling service providers that it has AppleCare-related changes planned for today, Tuesday, December 8 at approximately 5:30 a.m. Pacific Time. Specifically, the memo tells providers to prepare for new product SKUs, new/updated product descriptions, and new/updated product pricing.
While we don’t know for sure what Apple might be announcing, there has been much speculation that today’s expected announcement could be Apple’s unveiling of the much-rumored high-end “AirPods Studio” headphones.
Now, the AppleTrack website claims to have “exclusive” information from “multiple sources familiar with the matter” indicating Apple will indeed be launching the AirPods Studio this morning. It should be noted, the website does not have a long track record when it comes to rumors, and so it’s tough to determine the veracity of the rumor.
However, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman today also reminded his readers that he wrote an article a few months back that claimed: “Apple is still planning to announce high-end, noise-canceling over-ear headphones.”
Other leakers have indicated the new product will be AirPods Studio. Leaker L0vetodream tweeted in November that Apple is planning to launch an unspecified “Christmas surprise” that’s “good for winter” in December.
An icon discovered in the iOS 14.3 beta features an accessory that resembles the description of how the AirPods Studio headphones will look.
The AirPods Studio are expected to feature Active Noise Cancellation functionality, removable ear cups, a retro-style design, and more.
While this is all speculation, we’ll know shortly what Apple has up its sleeve.
