Apple has shared the costs for servicing for its new AirPods Max headphones. Buyers of the new audio accessory can expect to pay $59 if they want to protect their new earphones with AppleCare+
When customers opt to purchase AppleCare+, they get two-years of coverage and support, rather than the standard limited warranty and 90 days of support. Customers can also claim up to two incidents of accidental damage protection in a 12-month period, which will incur a service charge of $29 plus tax in each instance.
While the $59 fee is considerably more expensive than the $29 Apple charges for AppleCare+ coverage for the AirPods and AirPods Pro, the AirPod Max is priced considerably higher than its stablemates. The AirPods Max is $549.
If you don’t opt for AppleCare+ you’ll pay $79 for a battery replacement in your deluxe headphones. Apple will also soon begin selling ear cushions independently of the AirPod Max. The magnetically-attached AirPods Max ear cushions will soon be available for $69 per set and will be available in Silver, Black, Green, Sky Blue, and Red.
