Today is the official launch day for Apple’s new M1-powered Macs and Apple is now making in-store sales available for the new Apple Silicon-equipped MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini.
Customers in Europe, Asia, and Australia can now order a new M1 Mac on Apple’s website or in the Apple Store app and arrange for in-store pick up at a local Apple retail location.
MacRumors reports that most stores in the UK – including most stores in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland – have stock available for pickup today or tomorrow. Other stores in Europe show similar availability.
As for shipping to your home, most orders placed today won’t arrive until at least November 25. However, shipping times can vary, depending on your location. In-store pickup in the US is expected to be available later today.
Initial reports are indicating Apple’s new M1 Macs are significantly faster than the models they replace. M1 Mac benchmarks are showing that they are significantly faster in single-core benchmarks than any other Mac Apple offers. Multi-core performance is faster than the high-end Intel-powered 16-inch MacBook Pro models.
A benchmark found by Tom’s Hardware shows that Apple’s M1 processor often outperforms dedicated desktop GPUs, like Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and AMD’s Radeon RX 560, in graphics performance.
