Apple Releases Revised Update of macOS 11.0.1 Big Sur

Apple on Thursday released a revised version of macOS Big Sur 11.0.1, which is showing up for some Mac users that had not previously installed the update.

Apple hasn’t announced why they have released a new version of macOS Big Sur 11.0.1, but 11.0.1 is the launch version of the new operating system on all Macs excepting M1 Macs.

If you’ve already updated to macOS Big Sur you will not see the update, but those updating from a previous version of macOS will receive the new release.

The new version has a build number of 20B50, while the prior version had a build number of 20B29. The first release of macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 came last week.

The Big Sur‌ update can be downloaded to a compatible Mac via the Software Update section of System Preferences. Like all Mac updates, ‌the macOS Big Sur‌ update is available free of charge. The update is also available in the Mac App Store.
