A research note from industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says demand for Apple’s major device lines is better than expected. This includes the iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and iPad Pro.
As for 2021, Kuo expects the iPad’s growth will experience momentum from the tablet’s adoption of new technologies, including 5G support and Mini-LED backlighting. Kuo says he expects a new low-priced ninth-generation iPad to hit shelves in the second half of 2021.
Kuo also expects Apple’s third-generation AirPods to launch in the late second quarter of 2021. Kuo has previously said that the design of the third-generation AirPods will resemble the AirPods Pro design, but will lack active noise cancellation.
Kuo also had predictions for the Apple Watch lineup, predicting that the “new Apple Watch shipment’s momentum in 2021 will benefit from innovative health management functions and improved form factor design.” However, it is unclear if he was referring to the Apple Watch Series 6 lineup, or was referring to the upcoming Apple Series 7 models.
