Surprise! – Apple Online Store Shut Down Ahead of Today’s iPhone 12 Event

As is traditional before big Apple media events, the online Apple store is closed, in preparation for today’s “Hi, Speed” iPhone event. Apple usually takes down its online storefront to prepare it for the debut of new iPhone models, as well as other product introductions.

Visitors to the online store are greeted by a “Be right back” notice informing shoppers “We’re making updates to the Apple store. Check back soon.” An animated Apple logo accompanies the notice.

The store will likely re-open immediately following today’s event, scheduled to kick off at 10:00 a.m. Pacific time (1:00 p.m. Eastern time).

At the event, the company is expected to debut its new flagship iPhone 12 lineup, a smaller, more affordable model of the HomePod, and possibly other products.

There have been conflicting rumors about when Apple’s new iPhones will be available to order, but Apple is widely expected to stagger the launches this year, due to complications caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Apple may not open ‌iPhone‌ pre-orders immediately.

We’ll be watching the live stream along with you, and will report on the action once it happens. You watch on Apple’s event page, on Apple’s YouTube channel, or via the TV app on both Apple’s and other various streaming device platforms.
