Leaker Jon Prosser claims Apple’s upcoming “HomePod mini” and new Apple TV will track your in-home location (via your devices) to trigger HomeKit actions, or even augmented reality.
Prosser says the HomePod mini and new Apple TV will enable HomeKit to do things like lock doors to turn on lights as you move through your home. He also claims this will help enable expected new Apple AR features in the Find My app.
HomePod mini & the new Apple TV will both act as UWB base-stations đ§
– Will precisely track your location as you walk inside house with other U1 devices.
– Use info for media controls, brightness/volume control, & door locks.
Turns regular hardware into HomeKit hardware.

Prosser continues, saying the new feature will also “be used in the Find My app when you’re away from home to alert you if any of your devices have been moved within or taken from your home.”
As usual, take all of this with a grain of your favorite salt-substitute, as we wonât officially know all of the features of the new iPhone 12 lineup until Tuesday when Apple executives take the virtual stage. Stay tuned.
