Leaker Max Weinbach on Sunday shared what he says is “finalized and revised” information about the upcoming iPhone 12 lineup.
Weinbach says that while the “most important” things about the 2020 iPhone lineup has already been revealed by Weibo user “Kang” on Friday, he does have some specific new info to offer.
Apple is reportedly still shipping the new iPhone with a “dynamic zoning algorithm” feature, which could allow for faster Face ID. While rumors have mentioned a smaller display notch, the notch may only be reduced in width on the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 “mini” due to its smaller size. The reduction in width would be achieved by a tighter grouping of the TruDepth camera components but may increase the height of the notch. Images that were said to show the iPhone 12 mini’s screen were leaked back in July and appeared to show a smaller notch.
Weinbach says he also believes that all iPhone 12 models will feature a significantly improved digital zoom via software improvements, along with an improved optical zoom on the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Weinbach also says the new Pro handsets may also boast “a sort of macro camera” feature and the ultrawide lens aperture on the Pro models may allow getting closer to photo subject. These are not supposed to be “headline features,” however.
Battery life in the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max is also claimed to be boosted by at least one hour, while the iPhone 12 mini’s battery life is expected to perform a bit worse than the iPhone 11 due to its size.
Weinbach also repeated previous claims about the new handsets offering support for 4K video at 120 or 240 frames per second.
As usual, take all of this with a grain of your favorite low-sodium seasoning, as we won’t officially know all of the features of the new iPhone 12 lineup until Tuesday when Apple executives take the virtual stage.
