Apple today released watchOS 7.0.2, its second update to the watchOS 7 operating system for the Apple Watch. The OS was originally released in September.
watchOS 7.0.2 can be installed on an Apple Watch via the Watch app on the device’s attached iPhone. Go to “General” -> “Software Update” to install the new software. The Watch should have at least 50% battery life, be connected to a charger, and be in the range of the iPhone.
watchOS 7.0.2 is compatible with Apple Watch Series 3, Apple Watch Series 4, or Apple Watch Series 5 paired with iPhone 6s or later running iOS 14 or later. It is not compatible with the Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2.
Apple’s release notes say watchOS 7.0.2 addresses a bug that could cause the battery in the Apple Watch to drain more quickly, which many users have complained about since watchOS 7 was released.
watchOS 7.0.2 contains improvements and bug fixes, including:
– Addresses an issue that could cause the battery to drain more quickly
– Resolves an issue that prevented some users from accessing the ECG app in regions where it is available
