Apple today opened its new Marina Bay Sands retail store in Singapore, and YouTube channel Superadrianme TV is now offering a video walkthrough, providing viewers with an excellent look at the new “floating” store.
The video of the one-of-a-kind store includes the traditional clapping welcome to customers from Apple store employees, which traditionally happens at the opening of a new store. It also shows off the store’s 45-meter-long underwater entrance tunnel from Basement 2 of The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, which includes a long escalator ride to reach the top.
The video also shows the domed main floor, the oculus located at the apex of the dome, which provides light that travels through the store. The interior of the glass is lined with custom baffles, each uniquely shaped to counter sun angles and provide a nighttime lighting effect. The store’s all-glass dome is made up of 114 pieces of glass, creating a one-of-a-kind construct.
The store’s Forum is centered around a Video Wall, which will serve as the stage for Today at Apple sessions featuring Singapore’s artists, musicians, and creators. Entrepreneurs and developers interested in receiving training and advice can meet with Apple team members in Apple’s first underwater Boardroom, located on the lower level of the store.
The new store is Apple’s third location in Singapore, and opening-day visits required a reservation to maintain social distancing.
