Apple Seeds First Betas of iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 to Developers

Apple today seeded the first betas of its iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 updates to developers, just one day following the release of the iOS 14 and iPadOS 14.2 update to the general public.

Beta builds are available to developers through the Apple Developer Center or over the air on the devices with the proper configuration installed. However, the update doesn’t appear. to be available for over-the-air installation at this time.

While we don’t as yet have any info on what is included in iOS 14.2 or iPadOS 14.2 (or why Apple skipped iOS 14.1 and iPadOS 14.1), it likely includes features, bug fixes, and other good stuff that they were not able to cram into iOS 14 before yesterday’s release.

Apple may have jumped to version 14.2 as it is reserving the iOS 14.1 update for the new iPhone 12 models that have not yet been released.

Once we hear what’s included in the 14.2 betas, we’ll update this article.
