Apple Seeds Eighth Beta of tvOS 14 to Developers and Public Beta Testers

Apple today seeded the eighth beta of tvOS 14, designed to run on fourth and fifth-generation Apple TV models, to developers and public beta testers.

The tvOS 14 beta is compatible with fourth and fifth-generation Apple TV models. The new beta can be downloaded to a compatible Apple TV that has the proper profile installed. The public beta is also available.

tvOS 14‌ brings a Picture in Picture mode, allowing users to watch movies or TV shows, in a small window in the corner of the screen while they do something else on the ‌Apple TV‌.

A new Home app in ‌tvOS 14 allows HomeKit-connected devices to be controlled right from the TV. HomeKit camera feeds can be viewed on the larger screen of the television or in Picture in Picture mode.

Apple Arcade now supports multiple users, allowing each tvOS user to track their individual game levels, leaderboards, and invitations. The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and Xbox Adaptive Controllers are now supported, and ‌Apple TV‌ games can now take advantage of haptic feedback and other features built into those controllers.

Users can now manually choose a screensaver category‌, and tvOS 14‌ supports watching YouTube videos in 4K for the first time.

As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas on your daily driver Apple TV, instead only install betas on a device set aside for testing purposes.
