iPhones With Fortnite Installed Begin to Hit eBay With Price Tags as High as $10,000

Business Insider reports that Apple iPhones with Fortnite installed on them are being listed on the eBay online auction site with current starting asking prices as high as $15,000 ($20,000 for “Buy it Now”).

Opportunists are trying their luck as Apple has removed the popular “battle royale” game from the iOS App Store over a battle Apple and Fortnite developer Epic Games are currently waging over in-app purchases and the game.

Currently, Apple has not decided to remotely delete the game from iOS users’ devices, which means anyone with the game on their device can still play the game. However, they cannot update their version of the app.

A search of eBay using the search terms: “iPhone Fortnite installed” or “Fortnite iPhone” turns up hundreds of listings with abnormally high prices attached to them from owners looking to cash in. (We sorted from highest price to lowest price to give you the full gouging experience.) For you bargain hunters, there are iPhones with Fortnite installed currently going for as low as $100 in auctions.

It should be noted for the uninitiated among you that Fortnite is a free-to-download-and-play game, and is a cross-platform title that is available on most popular computers, mobile devices, gaming consoles, and other connected devices. So, you should be able to get your Fortnite fix without shelling upwards of $15K.

The game has also been removed from the Google Play Store, also due to a spat over the way in-app purchases are handled in the game, but since the game can be loaded from the Epic Games Store or sideloaded on Android devices, Android phones with the app installed probably won’t hit eBay in the same great numbers as the iPhones.
