Apple Extended One-Year AppleCare+ Option Available for All Devices, Works With Subscriptions

Earlier this week we reported that Apple is extending the period of time customers in the U.S. and Canada have to purchase AppleCare+ after an initial purchase. Now comes word with more information about the expanded program. (Via MacRumors)

AppleCare+ is now available for a device for up to one year from purchase. This includes Phones, iPads, Macs, iPods, HomePods, Beats (except urBeats3 and Pill+), AirPods, AirPods Pro, Apple Watches, and the Pro Display XDR. The only device missing from that list is the Apple TV, which already offers a one-year AppleCare purchase plan option.

For up to 60 days after the date of purchase, AppleCare+ can be purchased in the Settings section of an iPhone, iPad, or iPod, via the Apple Support app, the Apple Support site, or Checkcoverage.Apple.Com for the Apple Watch, HomePod, ‌iPhone‌, ‌iPad‌, iPod, and Mac. It can also be purchased through a contact center or an Apple retail store.

During the 60 to 365 day period, Users will need to take the device to an Apple retail location with a Genius Bar for inspection to get coverage. If a device is discovered to have any accidental damage during the inspection, it needs to be repaired before AppleCare+ can be purchased.

The 365 day AppleCare+ purchase option only applies to standard AppleCare+ coverage, and not the AppleCare Theft and Loss plan that is available for the iPhone. That plan is still available only for up to 60 days after the purchase of the iPhone.
