Apple Re-Shutters Eight More Retail Stores in the U.S.

Apple is re-shuttering eight more retail stores across the United States. The affected stores are in the states of Maryland, Missouri, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Michael Steeber on Twitter says the following stores will be closed from today:

  • Leawood (Leawood) – Kansas
  • Towson Town Center (Towson) – Maryland
  • Country Club Plaza (Kansas City) – Missouri
  • MacArthur Center (Norfolk) – Virginia
  • Lynnhaven Mall (Virginia Beach) – Virginia
  • Bayshore (Glendale) – Wisconsin
  • Hilldale (Madison) – Wisconsin
  • Mayfair (Wauwatosa) – Wisconsin

Six of the 28 stores in California that have not closed again are reported to be returning to curbside service only. They include Valley Fair and Oakridge in Santa Clara County, North County in San Diego County, Roseville in Place County, Arden Fair in Sacramento County, and Santa Rosa Plaza in Sonoma County.

A report on Tuesday said with the re-shuttering of numerous retail locations in the U.S. Apple is now asking retail employees to work remotely from home in support roles that the company has been offering since March.

The retail employees act as support advisors to handle service requests and support questions from customers unable to obtain those services in-store. The move is not mandatory and Apple has continued to pay employees either way. However, Apple is urging retail personnel to participate in the work from home program, as the need for customer support representatives has grown.
