Apple Maps Now Reminding Travelers to Self-Quarantine for 14 Days

The Apple Maps app is now reminding users that have traveled during this COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic to self-isolate for 14 days.

The notification pops up whenever the iPhone detects that a user has traveled internationally, as seen in a tweet by Kyle Seth Gray on Twitter (as noticed by AppleInsider).

The linked CDC guidance advises recent travelers to:

  1. Take your temperature with a thermometer two times a day and monitor for fever. Also watch for cough or trouble breathing. Use this temperature log to monitor your temperature.
  2. Stay home and avoid contact with others. Do not go to work or school.
  3. Do not take public transportation, taxis, or ride-shares.
  4. Keep your distance from others (about 6 feet or 2 meters).

The Apple Maps notification is just the most recent way Apple has been working to flatten the infection curve. Earlier this year, Apple Maps began displaying COVID-19 testing sites in the United States and Puerto Rico.

Apple in April sourced and donated over 20 million face masks to donate to governments for use in the fight against COVID-19.

The watchOS 7 beta, currently being tested by developers, includes a feature that detects when a user is washing their hands and provides a 20-second countdown to ensure they wash their hands long enough.
