Multiple reports have indicated that Apple will not include a wall charger or a set of EarPods in the box with iPhone 12 models this year. The omission of those two accessories is expected to help Apple save money on production costs and shipping/packaging costs. However, one industry analyst believes the iPhone 12 will be priced higher than the iPhone 11.
MacRumors reports that in a research note they saw from analyst Jeff Pu, he prognosticated that Apple’s iPhone 12 pricing will start at $749 for a new 5.4-inch model, a $50 jump from the base model iPhone 11’s $699 base price. Pu said the price hike is primarily due to the addition of 5G and OLED displays on all iPhone 12 models.
Thanks to the inclusion of 5G, Pu believes that consumers will accept the price increase and that it will not affect demand. However, some controversy could occur if the EarPods and wall charger are not present in the box as rumored.
This prediction flies in the face of an earlier prediction by leaker Jon Prosser, who claims the iPhone 12 lineup will start at $649 for the 128 GB model.
