Ming-Chi Kuo: Redesigned 24-inch iMac to Launch in Fourth Quarter of 2020

Well-connected Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple plans to launch a 24-inch iMac with a new design in the fourth quarter of 2020. Kuo made his prediction in a research note on Monday, shared by MacRumors.

Kuo on Sunday claimed the redesigned iMac will be one of two Macs to use Apple’s custom ARM-based processor. The second Mac expected to use the new Apple Silicon is a future 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Apple on Monday during its WWDC 2020 keynote address officially announced its much-anticipated plans to switch from Intel processors to its own silicon in its Mac computer lineup. The Cupertino firm plans to release its first Mac powered by Apple Silicon by the end of 2020, and expects to wean its entire Mac lineup off of Intel processors within two years.

Kup does expect to see Apple refresh its existing Intel-based iMac in the third quarter of 2020, which means it should happen sometime during the July – September timeframe. Kuo did not specify is that new model would feature a new design.
