Leaker Sonny Dickson says Apple will unveil a new iMac with “iPad Pro Design Language” at their WWDC 2020 event later this month.
Dickson says the new iMac will also include thinner bezels similar to those seen on Apple’s Pro Display XDR that accompanied the new Mac Pro last year. The new iMac will also feature the custom T2 chip that debuted in the rest of the Mac lineup. The T2 chip integrates several security and controller functions.
Dickson also claims the revamped iMac will boast graphics processors from AMD’s Navi family and will be all-flash storage across the lineup, discontinuing the hybrid Fusion Drive system which paid a smaller SSD with a large traditional hard drive.
The new iMacs could possibly be powered by Intel’s new “Comet Lake” processors, which were announced in late April.
Apple’s iMac hasn’t seen an update in over a year, so an update certainly makes sense. We’ve seen previous rumors that said an iMac update was “coming soon,” so this may be happening.
