iOS 13.6 Beta Remembers Where You Left Off Reading Apple News Articles

The recently released iOS 13.6 beta debuts a new Apple News feature that saves your place when you’re reading an article and then exit the article or the News app.

In the current public release of iOS 13 (iOS 13.5.1) and earlier versions of iOS, the News app takes you back to the top of the article when you return to it. iOS 13.6 returns you to the spot where you left off reading when you return to an article, so there’s no need to scroll through the article to find where you left off.

MacRumors says one of its forum members discovered the feature. The article says it takes approximately thirty seconds for the News app to register and save your current article position before its safe to exit the article or app. The feature will be a welcome change for longer articles that you may not be able to consume at one sitting.

The latest beta also shows indicators of a new Apple News+ Audio feature, which will see Apple offering some news stories as audio. This feature is not currently enabled in the beta, but the groundwork has been laid.

Also in the new beta, the Health app now includes a new “Symptoms” section that wasn’t available in previous versions of iOS. The section reportedly allows users to add symptoms of illnesses including body and muscle aches, changes in appetite, coughing, dizziness, fainting, headache, and more.

iOS 13.6, also adds new toggles for customizing Automatic Updates, allowing users to designate whether their iPhone or iPad can automatically download iOS updates when connected to WiFi, and when those updates are installed.

The above new features may or may not make it into the final version of the operating systems, only time and testing will tell.
