Starting today, iPhone and Apple Watch users in 275 Chinese cities can set up their T-Union cards on Apple Pay for use with Express Transit, Apple’s contactless transit payment system.
Apple Pay Express Transit allows riders to tap and pay for rides using Apple Pay without the need to authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID. The new support is a result of a partnership between Apple and China T-Union, a contactless transit card currently used in 275 Chinese cities.
Express Transit was already available to commuters in Beijing and Shanghai thanks to integration with local transit cards. Apple’s new partnership with China T-Union essentially extends Express Transit nationwide.
