Apple Maps now displays COVID-19 testing facilities across the United States. Apple began working on adding the feature earlier this month.
When a user opens the search interface in the Maps app, COVID-19 testing is now the first option in the “Search Nearby” list, tapping it brings up a map with all nearby testing sites.
Tapping on a testing site entry displays a link to the testing site or hospital’s website. It also displays specific information on how testing is done, including whether appointments or a doctor’s referral are required.
Apple earlier this month launched an online portal for healthcare providers, labs, or other businesses, to register as COVID-19 testing locations. The Apple Maps team then reviews the application and if it is approved, the submitted location appears in Apple Maps. The new feature appears to currently be available only in the United States and Puerto Rico.
