With basically every child out of school and (hopefully) learning at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, Apple has published a collection of 30 iPad-based educational activities that are designed to teach a range of useful lessons to youngsters.
The list of “30 Creative Activities for Kids,” is designed to spur and support at-home learning for kids ages 4 through 8 (pre-kindergarten to second grade).
Activities include using an iPad’s or iPhone’s technologies to capture a time-lapse video, creating a comic strip, making cards and more. Other projects include thinking puzzles, writing sentences, and creating phrases using emoji characters.
Many of the activities use the iPad’s camera, as well as first-party apps. These include creating a simple storybook by adding photos and videos to a Pages template. Kids will write their own captions and decorate the pages with their own drawings.
Other projects include recording a video in slow-motion of drops of food coloring falling in water, capturing a time-lapse video while building a fort, making a favorite snack, cleaning up toys, or watching an ice cube melt.
“We know parents out there are juggling a lot in this challenging time. Apple’s education team has some fun ways to keep kids everywhere creating,” CEO Tim Cook said in a tweet.
