Apple on Wednesday announced that iPadOS 13.4 will launch next Tuesday, March 24. The new iPad operating system will be a free update for compatible iPad and iPad Pro models.
iPadOS 13.4 will bring trackpad support to the iPad, providing an all-new way to interact with the iPad. Rather than copying the experience from macOS, trackpad support has been completely reimagined for iPad. As users move their finger across the trackpad, the pointer “elegantly transforms to highlight user interface elements. Multi-Touch gestures on the trackpad make it fast and easy to navigate the entire system without users ever lifting their hand.”
While Apple promotes the new feature as being used with the upcoming new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro, the Cupertino firm has confirmed that any iPad running iPadOS 13.4 will be able to connect a Magic Mouse 2, Magic Trackpad 2, or third-party mice via Bluetooth or USB.
The Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro will launch sometime in May. It will be priced at $299 for the 11-inch iPad Pro and $349 for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, and include layouts for over 30 languages.
