Four new iPad Pro models were temporarily listed on Apple’s Chinese website. The new models were briefly listed in a Chinese user manual on the website serving the China region. They have since been removed.
Spotted by the iPhone in Canada blog, the new model numbers include A2228, A2229, A2231, and A2233. Apple removed all four models from the user manual earlier today.
Apple has already filed model A2228 with the Eurasian Economic Commission database in July 2019, and filing model A2229 just yesterday.
Here are the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models that were listed, followed by their China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CMIIT) ID:
- 11-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi: A2228; CMIIT ID: 2019AJXXXX
- 11-inch iPad Pro Cellular: A2231; CMIIT ID: 2019AJXXXX
- 12.9-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi: A2229; CMIIT ID: 2019AJXXXX
- 12.9-inch iPad Pro Cellular: A2233; CMIIT ID: 2019AJXXXX
The sighting adds to the evidence that an iPad Pro refresh will soon happen. Well-respected Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted a few months ago that Apple will launch new models that boast a triple-lens rear camera system and 3D sensing for augmented reality in the first half of 2020. However, the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic may have delayed those plans.
