China’s BOE May Be OLED Co-Supplier For Much-Rumored 5.4-Inch iPhone

Chinese display manufacturer BOE has reportedly partnered with touch panel maker General Interface Solutions as the two firms are teaming up in an effort to become OLED display suppliers for Apple’s much-rumored 5.4-inch iPhone, says a report from DigiTimes. (Via MacRumors)

Well-connected Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes Apple will release four new 5G-capable “iPhone 12” models boasting OLED displays this fall, including one 5.4-inch model, two 6.1-inch models, and one 6.7-inch model. The new handsets may feature a new flat-edged design like the iPad Pro.

The new 5.4-inch iPhone 12 would be the smallest notch-display device ever offered by Apple, having a smaller footprint than even the 4.7-inch iPhone 8.

While the higher-end iPhone 12 models are widely expected to boast a triple-lens camera system including a time-of-flight sensor for 3D sensing, the lower-end models are expected to feature a dual-lens shooter, possibly lacking 3D sensing, says 9to5Mac.
