New 13-inch MacBook Pro Said to Use Intel’s 10th-Gen Ice Lake Chips

A 13-inch MacBook Pro refresh is rumored to be on the way, and a new benchmark posted on Twitter indicates the new laptop will be running Intel’s 10th-generation Ice Lake chips.

Over the weekend, a Twitter user posted a 3DMark Time Spy benchmark of a machine said to be a 13-inch MacBook Pro‌ equipped with Intel’s 10th-generation i7-1068NG7 Ice Lake 2.3GHz chip with 4.1GHz turbo boost capabilities (via Wccftech).

The benchmarks pit the new 10th-generation chip up against the 8th-generation 2.4GHz Core i5 chip in the high-end 2019 13-inch ‌MacBook Pro‌ and show a machine that is around 12% faster than the current model when it comes to CPU speed and 30% faster in GPU performance.

If the rumored new 13-inch MacBook Pro is released with the Ice Lake chip, it will be the first to use the 10th-generation chip. Rumors suggest Apple will indeed release a 13-inch MacBook Pro in the first half of 2020, which will possibly be unveiled at a March event. However, they could also be unveiled at WWDC in June.
