Popular open source firewall app Lockdown is now available for Mac users, alongside the already available iOS version.
The app, which launched on iOS back in July, allows you to block any connection to any domain and protecting your privacy across the web. This allows you to block ad tracking services, analytics platforms, ads, and more across all of the apps you use on your Mac, not just your browser.
Lockdown for Mac is designed to be simple to use, yet customizable, and comes with a pre-installed list of recommended domains to block. The pre-installed list offers blocking for Facebook tracking and analytics tracking by companies such as Google and Mixpanel. Çustom lists can also be added.
The app is free, and the developer says there is no data collection. The app is monetized via an optional Secure Tunnel VPN service.
Everything Lockdown Firewall does stays on your device, and what you see is what you get — nothing more or less — because that’s the way it should be.
