New Report: Rumored 5.4-inch ‘iPhone SE 2’ to Have Size Similar to iPhone 8, Offer Face ID

A new report Macotakara today puts a bit of a different light on what we might expect to see from the much-rumored “iPhone SE 2,” which is expected to resemble an iPhone 8. The report indicates that there may be two models of the new budget-priced iPhone.

The report says conversations with Apple suppliers at CES 2020 last week and says Apple “may be developing” a refreshed version of the iPhone 8 with Face ID, which would reportedly exist alongside the widely rumored Touch ID model.

I talked with many Apple suppliers exhibiting at the CES 2020, and Apple might be developing Face ID models besides Touch ID models as an updated version of iPhone 8 incorporating A13 Bionic chip.

The body size returns to iPhone 7, and the receiver size is in between the iPhone 11 series and the iPhone XS series.

The rear camera is much bigger compared to iPhone 8, and the LED True Tone flash size returns to iPhone 7.

By employing TrueDepth camera, the verticle width of the active area size for the display expands and thus becomes 5.4-inch size, and the possibility of it being the model buzzed about increases.

The report says information that it gleaned at CES 2019 about a 7th-generation iPod touch being under development proved to be true, with a release in May 2019.

While every other report of the new device has referred to it as being almost identical to the iPhone 8, even down to the included Touch ID, with no mention of Face ID. Macotakara could be mixing up the various rumors that have been published about the 2020 iPhone lineup.

Of course, all reports such as this should be taken with a grain of salt-free substitute.
