If you’ve purchased an iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, or iPod touch device between September 10 and November 1, you are quickly running out of time to grab your free year of Apple TV+.
The Apple TV+ video streaming service debuted in November, offering a variety of original movies and television shows. The subscription normally costs $4.99 per month. However, Apple has been giving away a free year’s subscription to buyers of the above-listed devices. This allows Apple TV+ to gain a toehold against better-established players, including Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and others.
This month is the last chance for stragglers who haven’t signed up for their free year of Apple TV+ to take advantage of the offer. Apple is sending reminders to folks that haven’t signed up. Australian Apple users are already receiving the reminder, so we can expect to start seeing it on devices in other countries very soon.
Users who do take advantage of the free year are basically agreeing to the subscription to renew automatically at the end of the one year period, but users can cancel at any time.
While there isn’t much on the service at the moment when compared with other services, much of what is available is of good quality. So, you could give it a try for free, and simply set a reminder to cancel it one year from now, before you’re required to actually pay for the service.
