Popular shooter Fortnite for iOS received an update on Wednesday, bringing new features to iPhone and iPad players. The update brings improved compatibility with joysticks, as well as 120 FPS gameplay on 2018 iPad Pro models.
What’s New
Version 11.40
CONTROLLER SUPPORT – Thumbstick buttons are now supported on iOS 13 and above.
120FPS GAMEPLAY – 120fps gameplay is now available on the 2018 iPad Pro. Head to settings on this device to activate.
While joysticks were already compatible with the iOS version of Fortnite, players can now fully use the thumbstick clickable buttons (L3 and R3) on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 controllers.
Fortnite now takes full advantage of the 2018 iPad Pro’s A12X Bionic chip, increasing graphics frame rates from the previous 60 FPS limit to the now available 120 FPS, using the device’s ProMotion display technology, Animations are smoother, and images are displayed at twice the former rate.
A frame rate improvement for a device that is nearly two-years-old is quite unusual and definitely shows off the Apple-designed A12X Bionic chip, which Apple has long promoted as desktop-class.
All other changes that are part of the update can be read on the Epic Games website.
Fortnite is compatible with iOS devices running an A8X chip and later, and is available free in the App Store.
