iFixit has performed that teardown voodoo that they do, so well on the new 2019 Mac Pro, and have given in a high score for repairability, calling it “beautiful, amazingly well put together, and a masterclass in repairability.”
The new Mac Pro’s modular design earned it a high 9/10 repairability score. iFixit notes that basic upgrades and repairs can be performed using standard tools or even with no tools at all. Major components use industry-standard sockets and interfaces.
The only repair downside noted by iFixit is that the SSDs are modular and are not user replaceable, as they are tied to the Apple T2 security chip.
