Apple’s Cupertino-based employees can receive free genetic testing through the company’s AC Wellness services.
CNBC reports that AC Wellness operates on-site health clinics both on and near Apple’s Cupertino campuses. The company is working with Color Genomics to provide employees with genetic screenings for diseases.
The genetic testing is expected to aid employees in uncovering health issues that might turn into risks later in time, providing employees with time to take preventative steps. The tests are able to check for gene mutations associated with cancer and cardiovascular disease.
The test is not sold directly to consumers, but must instead be ordered by the clinicians at AC Wellness, and a follow up appointment is required to discuss the health results.
The goal of AC Wellness is to bring the “world’s best health care experience” to Apple employees, says its website. Its clinicians and health coaches are not employed by Apple, but treat only Apple employees and their dependents.
