Apple on Monday released firmware updates for their AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro wireless earbuds. While new firmwares usually bring performance improvements, bug fixes, and feature tweaks, Apple did not announce any major updates or feature additions.
The AirPods Pro and AirPods 2 firmware updates bring both up to version 2C54. AirPods Pro were previously using firmware version 2B588, while AirPods 2 were previously using 2A364.
There isn’t anyway to manually update the firmware of the earbuds, and the new software will be installed over-the-air while the AirPods are connected via Bluetooth to an iOS device.
If you place the AirPods in their case, connecting them to power source, and then pairing them to an iPhone or iPad, they should update after a short period of time.
