Last week, reports suggested President Trump and Apple CEO Tim Cook would be visiting Apple’s Austin, Texas facilities where the company’s new Mac Pro is assembled. Now, the White House has confirmed that trip will take place this Wednesday, November 20. (Via CNBC)
President Trump and Mr. Cook will visit the Mac Pro assembly facilities. Apple announced in September that the new 2019 Mac Pro would be assembled in the same Austin facilities that the previous Mac Pro had been assembled in.
The Cupertino firm has planned to assemble the new Mac Pro in China, but changed its plans when it received tariff exemptions from the Trump Administration on the majority of the Mac Pro parts it imports from China.
The visit highlights the relationship between Trump and Cook, which has turned out to be a productive one for both parties. Cook has been able to receive tariff breaks for his company, while the President has been able to boast about the domestic manufacturing jobs.
The Apple CEO has had several one-on-one meetings with Trump, including private dinners, as Apple faced the threat of tariffs on its products this year.
