A Bloomberg report says shipments of Apple’s popular AirPods lineup are projected to double to 60 million in 2019. The strong growth is due in part to “much higher” than expected early demand for AirPods Pro, which debuted in October.
The report says sales of the $249 AirPods Pro have surpassed expectations. Demand for the wireless earbuds, which offer noise cancellation and water resistance, are said to be testing the manufacturing capacity of Apple’s assembly partners.
The AirPod lineup, which debuted in late 2016, has been updated twice this year, with Apple releasing second-generation AirPods in March and the new AirPods Pro in October.
