Apple on Thursday released the third developer beta of watchOS 6.1 for testing by developers. The new beta comes a little less than a week after the second beta release of the upcoming Apple Watch operating system.
The watchOS 6.1 beta can be installed on Watches with the proper configuration profile installed, via the Apple Watch app on the device’s attached iPhone. Go to “General” -> “Software Update” to install the new software. The Apple Watch should have at least 50% battery life, be connected to a charger, and be in range of the iPhone.
So far, no new features have been found in the watchOS 6.1 beta. However, we do know that the beta does support the Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2. (The initial public release of watchOS 6 did not support the Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2.)
As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas on your daily driver Apple Watch, instead install it only on a device set aside for testing purposes.
