Apple has quietly delayed until early 2020 the macOS Catalina iCloud Drive Folder Sharing feature that will provide iCloud users the ability to share entire folders instead of just individual files.
Apple’s new macOS 10.15 Catalina operating system was released to the public on Monday, but not all of its promised features came along for the ride. One feature in particular, the promised Dropbox-like ability to share iCLoud folders, has been delayed until Spring 2020.
While users do have the ability to share a single document they have stored in iCloud Drive, they cannot share an entire folder. This means the feature lacks the ability for multiple members of a team to use an entire folder of files. To say the least, this is a drawback for businesses and other groups of folks that would need to work on an entire folder of files.
The iCloud Drive Folder Sharing feature had been expected to have been released this fall, but will now be delayed until early 2020. While Apple still has the feature listed on its macOS Catalina features page, a footnote mentions the feature’s delay. However, no explanation for the delay is offered.
Apple’s iOS 13 and iPadOS pages also mention the delay, but still list the feature as coming this fall.
